Description:
In the Level 1 Robotics & Programming course, students build robots and use the computer programming language Scratch to “train” the robot to perform specific tasks (like chase your cat or dog) and complete challenges. Students learn about programming logic, loops, conditional statements, variables and more. In addition to using the graphical programming interface students are given some exposure to the Arduino text based programming language. Students upload the programs they write to their computerized robots. We are always referencing the hardware, including the components that make up the controller board and various sensors. Students learn about hardware & software and how they work together to make computerized devices work. Students learn how to troubleshoot issues and work through solutions using trial and error techniques. The class is fun, hands on and involves lots of getting up and down out of your seat to test your robot.
